What is COVID-19?

COVID-19 is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The virus, which can cause mild to severe respiratory illness, was first identified in Wuhan, China, and has spread globally. There is limited information available about illness associated with COVID-19. It likely spreads to others when a person shows signs or symptoms of being sick (e.g., fever, coughing, difficulty breathing, etc.). However, it is also believed that people can be contagious but show no symptoms of the disease.

Exer offers two different types of COVID-19 tests. You need a referral by Exer which you can get at any Exer clinic or through VirtualCare by Exer.

Nasal Swab Test

ABOUT

The Nasal swab test shows if you are actively infected with the COVID-19 virus.

METHODOLOGY

The test is administered by an Exer provider.

WHEN TO TAKE THE TEST

When you develop symptoms of COVID-19 or require the test for other scenarios such as returning to work or to travel.

The IgG antibody test detects the presence of antibodies in the blood. If antibodies are present, this shows that the person has been exposed to the virus and developed antibodies against it, which may mean that person has at least some immunity to the coronavirus.

METHODOLOGY

We will draw a sample of your blood.
